The Royal Wedding

I hardly recognize myself anymore. As I watch NBC’s webcast of the Royal Wedding, I find myself feeling surges of warmth and happiness as I watched William and Kate on one of the most important days of their lives. Particularly, I was inspired by James Middleton, Kate’s brother’s reading. So much so, I am recording it.

“Let love be genuine. Hate what is evil. Hold fast to what is good. Love one another with mutual affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal. Be ardent in spirit. Serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope. Be patient in suffering. Persevere in prayer. Contributes to the needs of the saints. Extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you. Bless, and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another.

Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”

I was also quite inspired by the Bishop quoting St. Catherine of Sienna in saying -

“Be who you are meant to be, and you will set the world on fire.”

And truly, I think William and Kate did a good job in having a ceremony reflecting as much as possible who they truly were. And true to the saying - they have set the world on fire with their union.

Over all, such a beautiful wedding. Not the pomp and circumstance part so much, but the little glances the cameras caught between the royal nuptials, the smiles on the faces of their family and loved ones, spotting Elton John in the crowd, the genuine looks of hope beaming from the altar boys’ faces.

Like the much of the rest of the commoners standing witness worldwide, I am filled with hope and happiness to see these two couples unite. And I am very happy for England to have at the head of their country such exemplary human beings. Congratulations, Prince William and Princess Kate. Cheers!
